The Deputy Minister for General Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has called for a partnership between the public and private sectors towards the development of education in the country.
According to the deputy minister, good practices in private schools can be replicated in public schools to improve the quality of education.
Dr. Adutwum made this suggestion when he led a delegation of officials of the Ministry of Education and media representatives to visit a number of selected private and public basic and senior high schools in Accra.
The delegation paid a visit to the St. Thomas Aquinas SHS in Cantonments, where the deputy minister said he wanted to see for himself, preparations that had been made to welcome students back to school for the second term of the 2017/18 academic year.
Dr Adutwum went ahead to commended the staff of the school for their support during the implementation of the Free SHS policy.
At the Labone, Teshie Presec and Nungua SHSs, he assured them of the Ministry’s dedication to address their most critical challenges. He asked the students to stay focused on their books to enable them pass well.
Other schools visited by the delegation included Morning Star School, Teshie Camp 1 cluster of basic schools and the St, Augustine SHS.
