National Education Forum in Ghana: Mandate
- National Education Forum in Ghana: Established to foster inclusive dialogue on education challenges and opportunities.
- Committee Formation: An eight-member committee, chaired by Professor George K. T. Oduro, was appointed by President John Dramani Mahama to develop a report and plan within two weeks.
Forum Objectives:
- Establish a central theme and sub-themes for discussions.
- Identify key stakeholders.
- Propose a venue and date.
- Gather public input, particularly on the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy.
- Draft a national education policy framework with an action plan within three weeks post-forum.
Government Commitment:
- President Mahama has pledged to implement the forum’s outcomes as feasible.
- GNAT Participation: The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) will highlight funding challenges, including debts to WAEC, School Feeding program financing issues, and arrears in the capitation grant.
- National Teaching Council (NTC): Responsible for regulating the teaching profession, accrediting teacher education programs, and promoting professional development.

The Government of Ghana initiated some key education reforms to transform teaching and learning and improve educational outcomes under
the Education Strategic Plan (ESP 2018-2030) which was approved by cabinet in November 2018.
