“Celebrating a Visionary: Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s Transformative Leadership Marks 25 Years at KNUST Chancellor’s Week”

On Friday 10th May, the Minister was privileged to deliver a speech at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), as part of the celebration of Chancellor’s Week in honour of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
The occasion forms part of a four-day event by the University in commemoration of the 25th anniversary since the King ascended the Golden Stool.
He paid a glowing tribute to the Asantehene for his visionary leadership which has impacted every facet of our national life.
He also highlighted how Otumfuo has inspired the nation for what he has done for Asanteman and KNUST as the Chancellor and the country as a whole.
Under the leadership of Otumfuo as the Chancellor of KNUST, the University has seen a 1000 percent growth from a student population of 8,000 to 80,0000 which is a remarkable achievement worth celebrating.
He recounted the leading roles the Asantehene has played in our national endeavours in the areas of education, health, peace, and socio-economic development.
He also told the gathering that there were a lot of interventions Otumfuo had made behind the scenes in the education space that have contributed to the steady transformation of the country in recent years.
He particularly mentioned the incredible role Otumfuo had to play for the World Bank to release Two Hundred Million dollars ($200m) to fund educational reforms in Ghana when the release was almost in jeopardy.
Even before the Free Senior High School Policy, Otumfuo was giving lifeline support to Ghanaian youth to stay in school through the Otumfuo Charity Foundation, a feat that could only be achieved by visionary leaders.
He extolled the leadership qualities of His Royal Majesty who possesses so much power yet is very humble in stewardship.
